Dua (ุฏูุนูุงุก) is personal supplication โ speaking directly to Allah (SWT) to ask for guidance, forgiveness, blessings, or relief. Unlike salah (ritual prayer), dua can be made at any time, in any language, and in any state. It is one of the most intimate acts of worship in Islam.
Are duas from this library authentic?
Yes. All duas in this library are sourced from the Quran and authenticated Hadith collections, primarily Sahih Al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Abu Dawud, and Hisnul Muslim (Fortress of the Muslim). The source is indicated on each dua card.
Can I make dua in English instead of Arabic?
Yes. Personal dua can be made in any language. Arabic specific duas from the Quran and Sunnah retain their exact wording, but your personal requests, gratitude, and supplications can absolutely be in your own language. Allah understands all tongues.
When are duas most likely to be accepted?
Several blessed times for dua include: the last third of the night (tahajjud time), between the adhan and iqamah, during prostration (sujud), on Fridays during the window around Asr, when breaking fast (iftar), and when it is raining. Duas made with sincerity, full focus and wudu are especially powerful.
Do I need to be in a state of wudu to make dua?
No, wudu is not required for dua. You can supplicate Allah at any time and in any state. However, being in a state of purity (wudu), facing the Qibla, and beginning with praise of Allah and salawat upon the Prophet are all recommended etiquettes that increase the likelihood of acceptance.
