What is Surah Al-Mulk?

Surah Al-Mulk (سورة الملك) is the 67th chapter of the Quran. It contains 30 verses and was revealed in Makkah. Also known as Tabarak (تبارك — "Blessed") after its opening word, this surah discusses Allah's sovereignty over creation, the signs of His power in the universe, and the consequences for those who reject the truth.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ held this surah in high regard. He recited it every night before sleeping and encouraged his companions to do the same.

"Blessed is He in whose hand is the sovereignty, and He is over all things competent. He who created death and life to test you as to which of you is best in deed — and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving."
